Barbara Clarke Ruiz, is an honors graduate of Pratt Institute where she received a BFA in Fashion Design. She is CEO of BCSWIRL, Inc, an Activewear Design firm where she has over 20 years of experience in apparel creative direction and design. As a consultant, her creativity and success rate has positioned her as one of the most sought after apparel designers in the activewear industry. Barbara’s unique talents and capabilities have allowed her to work with top industry leaders in the category.
Barbara has lived and worked abroad in France, Germany and Italy. She has built an international client roster that includes Nike Europe, Adidas US/Germany, Fila US/Italy, New Balance US/ UK, Speedo UK, Hanes, Colosseum Sport, Jockey, Asics Europe. She was also Creative Director for Walmart for six activewear divisions.
Most recently, Barbara acted as the Design Director for Eleven By Venus apparel collection created by tennis icon, Venus Williams. Eleven’s designs have been featured in various publications such as CBS Sunday Morning, In Style, Sports Illustrated, Dr.Oz, Shape, Town and Country, Good Morning America and Town and Country. She is also the Design Director of tech start-up Gagittronix/Gest’r, a device, which utilizes hand gestures to operate your mobile device while engaging in sports.

Barbara is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Montclair Alumnae Chapter where she serves her community. She also serves on the advisory board of the Pastoralist Child Foundation, an organization dedicated to educating the children of Kenya and SuperBwomen, a professional networking organization for female professionals.
